Roundabout and Roller Blinds

Roundabout - Sheffield - Partnership Homeless accomodation for young people (5)

We believe in doing our bit for charity here at Roller Blinds Direct, and the latest good cause we have worked with was one that is particularly close to our hearts.

It’s a strongly-held conviction among the staff here that young people deserve the best chance possible in life; over the years, we have given this opportunity to many young people through apprenticeships all over the company, from digital marketing to manufacturing, as well as graduate jobs for people fresh out of university.

Roundabout is Sheffield’s local housing charity for young people. It works to give shelter and to young people at risk, as well as provide them with the support and life skills they need to live a better life, so when they approached us last year to ask for some wooden blinds for one of their projects for sheltered housing, we were only too happy to donate from our sister site, Wooden Blinds Direct.

This year, Roundabout got back in touch with us to ask if we would be willing to work with them on another project, the No. 11 Campaign. This new campaign was an effort to refurbish Roundabout’s No. 11 property, which could safely house eight young people. No. 11 is next door to their hostel, and has five self-contained flats. These flats are currently very rundown and the building requires a lot of work doing to it.

Realising how vital this property is to this fantastic cause, we were only too delighted to help them out again, donating a total of eight roller blinds to the facility so they could cover all its windows. To put our own, personal touch into the property, we chose to donate grey roller blinds from our very own and exclusive Touched by Design range, opting for TBD Supreme Blackout Light Grey. This blackout fabric will also provide the young people with an extra level of privacy to aid their protection.

There’s plenty of ways individuals can help Roundabout, too! The No. 11 campaign is ongoing, and any donations would be greatly appreciated – just visit their website now to find out how you can get involved.
